GKN Driveline Continues Expansion in India

PRLog (Press Release) – May 26, 2011 – GKN Driveline is continuing its rapid growth in India with the groundbreaking of a new manufacturing facility for CVJ Systems and Trans Axle Solution in Pune, India.

This INR 130 crores (£ 18 million) factory will employ more than 200 people and is strategically located within 30 kilometres of a number of GKN Driveline customers including Fiat, Volkswagen, General Motors, Tata and Renault. When fully operation in August 2012, the new 8000 square-metre facility will have an annual production capacity of more than 600,000 CVJ Systems. It is planned for the new facility to also manufacture differentials from GKN Driveline's Trans Axle Solutions product range.

"This new facility positions GKN Driveline strongly to meet the continued rapid growth of India's automotive industry," said Marc Vuarchex, managing director, GKN Driveline Asia Pacific. "It is the next step in our mission to remain close and accessible to our customers in west India."

Recognising the potential growth of the Indian automotive market in the early 1980s, GKN Drivline was the first company in India to manufacture sideshafts for front-wheel-drive vehicles. The company currently employs 800 people at three factories in India: Faridabad and Dharuhera, near Delhi in the north and Oragadam, near Chennai, in the south.

BMI sees 2011 as a reasonably good year for Argentina's freight transport sector. The main driver will be better-than-expected economic growth as the government prepares for the October 2011 elections. BMI has lifted its forecast for GDP this year to 6.0%, up from 4.1% previously, as strong private consumption combines with government pump-priming to provide a supportive environment to the transport industry.

Relatively speaking, though, the freight sector will lag behind GDP given the lack of sufficient investment in recent years and poor industrial relations, among other factors. In volume terms, the strongest expansion will be in airfreight, followed by some of the country's main ports and railfreight. Road haulage remains the country's main mode of transport, but there are no reliable data series allowing us to track its year-on-year (y-o-y) performance.

We believe there are two related downside risks to out current forecasts. First, there is the possibility of a hard economic landing sometime after the October elections, particularly if an incoming administration finds the fiscal coffers are in a worse state than has been publicly acknowledged. There is already some concern over the reliability of economic data and most analysts acknowledge the under-reporting of the inflation r 2011 Chrysler 200 Convertible ate. We believe the extent of this risk will become clearer later in 2011 and is most likely to affect freight performance in 2012.

The second downside risk relates to the general 'politicisation' of Argentina in an election year. Although Fernandez is currently the front-runner in the polls, she remains a politically divisive figure and her disagreements with the farming sector over export taxes and other issues could have a direct impact on the flow of exports through the country's ports.

National Ports Strategy To Tackle Australia's Congestion Woes: In a bid to tackle rising congestion at the nation's ports, the Australian government has launched its first National Ports Strategy, which will aim to map out the next 20 years of Australian shipping. BMI notes that given recent problems at Australian ports - in particular at the DP World-operated Port Botany at the port of Sydney - this is a much-needed move, and should provide a comprehensive framework for ensuring congestion-free ports in the years to come.

Rio Tinto To Triple Coal Exports Through Newcastle: Rio Tinto-managed Port Waratah Coal Services Limited (PWCS), which operates two coal terminals, Carrington and Kooragang, at the Port of Newcastle in New South Wales, announced in February plans to almost triple its coal-loading capacity at the port and to build T4, the port's fourth coal terminal. At full capacity Newcastle's four coal terminals would be capable of shipping more than 300mn tonnes of coal per annum.

New Iron Ore Ports in Western Australia: Rio Tinto has awarded the engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) contract for expansion of the Cape Lambert port facility in Western Australia to Sinclair Knight Mertz (SKM). The new greenfield iron-ore port facility located alongside the existing Cape Lambert port, will offer an initial annual shipping capacity of 53mn tonnes. The port's design also permits additional shipping capacity of 50mn tonnes per annum. Another iron port is going to be built at Anketell Point, just 15km north of Cape Lambert. The lead developer for the project is Fortescue Metals Group and the annual capacity of the first stage is 40mn tonnes. Capacity might potentially increase to 350mn tonnes at a total cost of the project at AUD25bn.

The strong base for growth at the country's ports stems from BMI's positive outlook for the Australian economy. Container throughput will be driven by the country's consumers, a section of the country's economy that is strengthening. The country's real GDP is estimated to increase by 2.4% in 2011.

BP reaches Deepwater Horizon settlement with MOEX

PRLog (Press Release)– May 20, 2011– One of the owners of the oil well that leaked millions of gallons into the Gulf of Mexico last year has agreed to contribute to BP's compensation fund.

MOEX Offshore has agreed to pay $1.065bn (£657m) to BP to settle all claims between the companies relating to the Deepwater Horizon rig accident.

MOEX, a unit of Japanese trading house Mitsui, owned 10% of the Macondo well.

BP has said it will put the money into the $20bn trust it established to meet claims relating to the oil spill.

The settlement excludes fines, penalties or punitive damages that may be applied in future.

"MOEX is the first company to join BP in helping to meet our shared responsibilities in the Gulf," BP chief executive Bob Dudley said in a statement.

"We call on the other parties involved in the Macondo well to follow the lead of the MOEX and Mitsui parties."

The explosion in April acura 2010 aboard the Deepwater Horizon rig killed 11 people and caused one of the worst oil spills in history.

The Macondo well, about a mile underneath the rig, was finally sealed in September.

BP is pursuing some of the other companies involved to contribute to its compensation fund.

A new group has been set up to regulate and improve the operations between commercial utility brokers, suppliers and clients.

The 'Aggregators Forum', launched by Andy Pilley, managing director of Commercial Power, held its first meeting earlier this month with the support of almost all other aggregators, Benjamin Dexter Ltd, Billscutter Ltd, Lourdes Associates Ltd, Comme acura rcial Energy Ltd, Utility Renewals, Commercial Utility Brokers Ltd, Business that Connects Ltd and Utilitywise Ltd.   These companies represent some of the main aggregators in the UK, which act as super brokers dealing with a network of smaller brokers.  As a group, they handle around 80% of all new commercial utilities contracts written.

Tameron Hyundai announces Hyundai puts a Luxury Upgrade in the Genesis in Korea.

PRLog (Press Release) – May 18, 2011 – Hyundai Motor Co. sells one out of every two cars in South Korea, so it's difficult for the slanted-H logo to mean anything other than ubiqu mustang car ity in its home country.

That's why Hyundai has to do something special for its upscale cars. Its top-of-the-line Equus and luxury Genesis sedans operate as distinct brands in South Korea, with no Hyundai logos on the car.

But even so, the two sedans are also so common among South Korea's elite that Hyundai has to stretch even more to produce something different for those who really want to stand out.

The result is the compa raising chickens ny's first luxury co-branded product: a limited-run Genesis sedan with Prada.

The 1,200 Genesis Prada sedans will be sold in South Korea over the next few months. Another few hundred will be shipped to luxury first drive audi a6 buyers in the Middle East and China.

The starting price for the car is 79 million won (about $73,000), which is 20% more than a regular Genesis model with the same V8, 460-horsepower Tau 5.0 GDi engine.

For the money, the buyer gets a slightly different interior automobile news with a higher class of leather, Prada's "saffiano" leather. The front grille and door handles are trimmed in a dark chrome that's meant to evoke the palladium-coated buckles of a Prada handbag. There's also a flash of red on the plastic engine coverings under the hood.

Hyundai isn't the first Korean company to partner 1086274749  with Prada. LG Electronics Co. in 2007 produced a touch-screen cell-phone with the Italian fashion house.

Hyundai has been working on the car for more than two years. It showed a concept version at the Seoul Motor Show in April 2009.
