PRLog (Press Release)– Jul 28, 2011– RACV today launched it auto part s Car Blindspot Ratings revealing that some car designs can reduce visibility for drivers, increasing the risk of a crash particularly at intersections, roundabouts and pedestrian crossings.

The testing involved rotating a laser 180 degrees from the driver's seat to replicate a driver's vision. The scores were calculated by taking into account the position of the windscreen pillars (where the windscreen meets the side window) and how much each pillar blocked the laser.

RACV tested 183 new vehicles with more than 21 per cent scoring one star out of five. The vehicles tested represent a broad cross section of those available in each segment without focusing on any particular brand or price point.

The star ratings are a standalone scale that range from five star to one star. A car with one star will have visibility that is severely restricted by features such as large wide pillars, high door lines and narrow windscreen, whilst a car with five stars will offer a large unimpeded view of the road ahead.

No vehicles tested received five stars. Only two out of the 183 vehicles tested received four stars – the Volkswagen Golf (Hatch and Wagon) in the Small-Medium car category and the Citroen C4 Picasso (4 door wagon) in the People Movers section.

There were 25 vehicles that recorded three stars with the highest number of vehicles – 116 – receiving two stars. Forty vehicles were awarded just one star.

RACV Manager Vehicle Engineering, Michael Cas car news e, said changes to vehicle design and additional safety features had improved protection for drivers and passengers in new vehicles but in some instances, visibility had been compromised.

"Manufacturers must ensure there is a good balance between crash safety and visibility. Mitsubishi Motors North America and Mitsubishi Electric Debut Solar-Powered EV Charging Station

(Mitsubishi Electric) and MMNA recently debuted a bmw M5 specification solar-powered charging station for electric vehicles at the MMNA headquarters in Cypress, California.

The charging station is powered by 96, 175W photovoltaic modules from Mitsubishi Electric. This charging station will help support CHAdeMO compatible electric vehicles such as the Mitsubishi i-MiEV.

Able to charge up to four vehicles at once, the station features three types of chargers with different voltages: standard level 1 voltage (110v) will deliver a 100 per cent charge in 22 hours on the new Mitsubishi i; level 2 (220v) which can charge the vehicle in six hours; and level 3 CHAdeMO Quick Charger, which can charge to 80 percent battery capacity in 25 minutes.

"This project will build awareness of solar power's versatility and efficiency," said Katsuya Takamiya, president and chief executive officer, Mitsubishi Electric and Electronics USA.

"As electric vehicles' popularity grows, we expect to see more charging stations at large employers, automobile dealerships, shopping centres and schools, where new cars can charge wh goverment technology ile people work, shop or study."

"We had been looking for a talented Asian actress with a different look for months," said Director/Producer Max Bartoli "We were casting in L.A., and Richmond, VA and all of a sudden this girl ferrari came out of nowhere and amazed us. It was one of the best cold auditions I have ever seen. What really struck me were her acting instincts. Ethan and I looked at each other knowing we had found the right person for our character".

"She was a real asset," says Executive Producer Marten. "Mae's gift immediately broke through during auditions. She was fresh, energetic, and real." Marten adds, "Working with her has been an equal pleasure. The demands of this production were not easy on our actors. "Philippines Power Report Q3 2011" is now available at Fast Market Research

PRLog (Press Release)– Jul 22, 2011– The new Philippines Power Report from BMI forecasts that the country's power consumption is expected to rise from 60.5TWh in 2010 to 102.3TWh by the end of the forecast period, representing average annual growth of 5.4% in 2011-2020. After power industry usage and system losses, we see a surplus supply rising from the estimated 7.1TWh level seen in 2010 to 10.6TWh by 2020, assuming 5.3% average annual growth in power generation during the period.

The Philippines' power generation in 2010 is put by BMI at 67.5TWh, having risen sharply from the 2009 level of 59.2TWh. BMI is forecasting an average 5.9% annual increase to 89.9TWh between 2011 and 2015. Thermal generation, comprising coal, gas and oil, is expected to increase by 5.8% per annum during the period to 2015, but growth looks set to slow later in the decade.

BMI believes that the country will account for 1% of Asia Pacific regional power generation by 2015. Regional power generation in 2011 is forecasted to be 6,466TWh, representing an increase of 5.6% from the previous year. We forecast an increase in regional generation to 8,213TWh by 2015, representing a rise of 27% between 2011 and 2015.

We expect gas-fired power generation to climb 9.1% per annum between 2011 and 2015, with an average annual growth rate of 8.2% forecast to 2020. Gas-fired generation should therefore reach 35.2TWh by 2015 and 50.0TWh by 2020. The total share of gas in the Philippines' power generation should therefore increase from 34% to 44% by the end of the forecast period. Oil will remain a relatively significant part of the Philippines' power generation mix, although its market share is likely to fall appreciably during the forecast period, as several new gas facilities are being built. Over the longer term, the conversion of older oil plants to gas should mean that oil takes a smaller slice of the power pie.

Coal-fired generation will have accounted for 30.2% of the country's total generation in 2010, according to BMI estimates. We expect the fuel's market share to be 25.9% by 2015, firing a projected 23.3TWh. By 2020, coal's share of generation is forecast at 22.5%, representing 25.4TWh. The current national energy plan calls for an increase in overall hydro-power capacity from 3.2GW to almost 4GW by 2014 through the development of all viable small and mini-hydro plants. BMI is predicting 11.6TWh of hydropower generation by 2015, ac aston martin counting for a potential 12.9% of total generation.

The Philippines now shares 10th place with South Korea in BMI's updated Power Business Environment Ratings, in spite of a relatively high level of renewables usage. Koch earns 2nd straight Rookie of the Race award in New Hampshire

PRLog (Press Release)– Jul 19, 2011– LOUDON, NH –  Florida's Blake Koch continued his trek towards the 2011 NASCAR Nationwide Series Sunoco Rookie of the chrysler Year title with another impressive run aboa auto part rd the Daystar Television Network #81 Dodge in Loudon, New Hampshire Saturday afternoon. Taking to the Magic Mile for the first time in his racing career, Koch drove to his second consecutive Rookie of the Race Award with an 18th place finish in the New England 200.

"Loudon was a great point's weekend," said Koch. "I'm really happy with everyone on the Daystar team. This was another new track for me and we worked hard all weekend for this result. If we can keep this going we're going to have a great shot at winning the Rookie of the Year title. I'm not sure what it did to the Rookie standings just yet but we definitely closed in on it."

For Koch, the weekend started off with its share of challenges prior to Saturday's race with tough performances in both practice and qualifying where he timed in 25th on the 1.058 mile oval in the Granite State. It was then that the Daystar Racing Team and MacDonald Motorsports did what they do best when they tightened their belts and went to work on the #81 Dodge Challenger to perfect it in the early laps of the event to gain valuable track position.

"Practice and qualifying didn't go as good as we would have liked," said Koch. "But the guys worked super hard to improve the car during the race and get us that top 20 finish. I'm really happy with the way the weekend turned out."

Following the guidance of his longtime spotter Chris Monez, Koch displayed great patience as he traveled around Loudon's unique surface for the first time in his racing career. Starting 25th, he later faded back as far as the 31st position and benefited from a series of well executed pit stops which began gaining him track position just when it counted the most.

With just 15 laps remaining in the race, Koch had rallied back into the top 25 positions and made the best of the final sprint to the finish. Advancing an impressive five positions during the final laps, Koch worked himself into the 18th position prior to the waving of the ch aston martin eckered flag.

Entering Saturday's race, Koch was just nine points behind Rookie of the Year point leader Timmy Hill. Hill finished 23rd in the event and now the contest for the coveted title is getting hotter than ever. Saturday was Koch's fourth top 20 finish of the season and marked his fifth Sunoco Rookie of the Race Award. The finish was the second best finish at Loudon for the MacDonald Motorsports team and the best finish in the last seven years. Previously, Kevin Lepage drove the team to a 15th place position in 2004.

Now, Koch will focus on carrying his recent strong performances into a third consecutive week as he heads to Nashville Superspeedway this Saturday for the Federated Auto Parts 300. Not only will Koch be blessed with the momentum of two consecutive Rookie of the Race Awards, he will be returning to a track he has already raced on this season.

Back in April of this year, Koch made his first start of his career at Nashville. He started 30th in the event and drove his way to 25th at the finish line. Throughout much of the 2011 racing season nearly every track Koch has competed on has been new turf for the rookie driver in his first season of NASCAR's Nationwide League. Prior to coming into the series Koch had raced in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West and numerous events aboard late models and speedway trucks on the east coast.

"I feel better going into Nashville than I have ever felt all year long," said Koch. "I am finally going to a track for the second time. We are running the car we raced in Kentucky and that was a good car.
