PRLog (Press Release)– Apr 17, ferrari 2011– "If someone says that you're too something, listen intently because that will be the ticket to your acting success." – Cullen Douglas
Beginning Thursday, April 21, 2011, from 7:00-9:00 pm, 3-2-1 Talent Showcase Acting Studios will be hosting a six-week Master class series taught by character actor/renowned acting coach Cullen Douglas. First recognized for his role as "The Bird Man" – the awake open-heart surgery patient on Grey's Anatomy- Cullen Douglas has a list of credits to be reckoned with. Moreover, 2009 marked the second consec aston martin utive year that producers have submitted Cullen for an Emmy® - Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series. Cullen's other notable television appearances include True Blood, With cadillac out a Trace, Bones, and Prison Break. He is also currently co-starring in the theatrical release Shuttle.
Last Thursday, 3-2-1 Talent Showcase Acting Studios hosted a free Master Class taught by Cullen. "The response from our students was outstanding," says Ms. Mae Ross, owner of 3-2-1 Acting Studios and' 20 year teaching veteran of kids acting classes. "The students were engaged and came out inspired. I can't wait to get everyone in for a six week course. Their development will be incredible."
Riley Beres, working actress and master student at 3-2-1 Acting Studios commented: "Having the opportunity to learn different "connection" techniques with Cullen Douglas last night at 3-2-1, was amazing. He really brought a level of depth to the scene for each of us to learn from, not only for ourselves but also in a positive group environment. It was a really fun night!"
"I love those magic moments. It's that moment that you feel as an actor ... with a scene partner when you connect, when you look into your scene partner's eyes and they are just as connected as you are," says Cullen. "When I'm teaching, it's that same look that I'm going for in the student's eyes, that little mini breakthrough. They'll n corsa ever be the same past that point."
Cullen's main focus of the evening was to get students to bring themselves to a role to bring more authenticity and a more natural delivery. Megan McRae, another actress and master student commented: "I just wanted to say that I really loved Cullen. He took us out of our comfort zone in a great way and helped us even in the short period of time he had to become more natural rather than just 'acting'." Cullen says,"Bringing yourself to the role is the most important thing that I can teach these students and helping them understand that they are enough for whatever is being asked of them. Outside of theater, we as actors are going to be playing our age. We're going to be playing our type. My goal is to hopefully share with actors is that people have said that you're this or you're that or you're too this. If someone says that you're too something, listen intently because that will be the ticket to your acting success."
"We are elated that Cullen will be joining 3-2-1 Acting Studios in teaching this six week course," says Ms. Mae. "His credits demonstrate his ability to act, but his ability and passion as a teacher is what caught my attention. The fact that the kids loved him is what sealed the deal."
